Choosing a New Bathroom Vanity

One of the biggest decisions in designing a bathroom is in the choice of bathroom vanities. This is usually one of the focal points of the room and can both be a standout unique piece within the space or blend naturally into the rest of the decor, almost unnoticed. There are a large variety of styles to choose from depending on the tastes of the resident and several factors to consider when choosing a new vanity.

Functionality. A modern bathroom vanity can have many uses beyond their aesthetic value. They provide extra storage in the room (which is much needed for many homeowners) and can allow for more counter space. When purchasing a bathroom vanity, one must consider the size of their bathroom and who will be using it. For a large master bedroom, you may want to consider a grand vanity with a double sink and lots of cupboard space. For a smaller guest bathroom you may go with something smaller and concentrate more on the look of the piece. One must also consider the design of the vanity in terms of accessibility to all of the parts. If the sink needs to be taken apart for repair, you don't want the extra hassle of manoeuvring around awkward parts. For example, if there is a piece in the middle of the doors, that could prove a problem when trying to get to the pipes easily.

Size. This seems like a pretty simple one but can be quite difficult. What size vanity would best suit your space? When considering size there are many factors to consider. Does it look natural within the space? Can you use everything properly? There's no point in getting a large vanity with double doors if you don't have the space to open them properly. Is your vanity the only storage for the room? Many people underestimate all of the things they keep in the bathroom and it would be a little disappointing to install your new vanity and then realize not everything fits and you could have used a bigger one.

Style. Today, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of different bathroom vanities to choose from. Most houses have a certain style of their own, from antique country to modern streamlined, and there is something out there to suit everyone. Take your time to consider the other spaces around your bathroom and look for something that creates a natural transition from space to space. If you have a more eclectic home, have fun with your vanity choice! There are some very new and interesting models out there.

Price. This should be the last thing that you consider when choosing a bathroom vanity. Don't limit yourself this way at first because most likely, once you find the style and size that you want, there will be an affordable option out there for you. You just may have to look a little harder for it. Vanities range in price from a couple of hundred to a few thousand dollars, and there are a variety in each of these ranges. Just remember, you want to have this new piece for some time so try and choose something that will last.

With thousands of options out there, redesigning any room can be overwhelming. But, breaking down what you need and what you want can make the task manageable and you will end up with the perfect new piece in your home. The most important thing is to be satisfied with your choice. After all, you're the one who has to live with it!
