Flea Markets

A perfect house. A small piece of the town a Milton real estate agent helped you find. It's the perfect place for you to live, what some might call a starter house. Sure, they say it's a buyer's market out there, but first time home buyers at least don't see that reflected in their mortgage payments. So now you have a perfect little first house, but now you wonder if you can really make it feel like a home. You have certain ideas about how you want to decorate, but worry that you may not have the budget to do it.

Well, fear not. People have had trouble reconciling their budgets and their ideas for centuries now, it's nothing new. And thanks to the fact that this is a problem common to home owners through the ages, there is also a solution. From Corktown Toronto to Kitimat British Columbia, the solution for the thrifty home decorator is the flea market.

That's right. You might think that the flea market is yet another casualty of the digital shopping, credit card maxing twenty first century, but think again. Your great grandparents did not conceive of this novel concept only to have it die out in one generation. No, instead there are still flea markets to be found in towns and cities all over the world, although they may go by other names. Community stores, town markets, and liquidation stores are just a few names you might find your local flea market called.

And what exactly is carried in these markets? Well, just about everything you could want, but you have to be at the right place at the right time. Flea market stock changes week to week, and even daily. What is available will depend on how many Edmonton foreclosures there have been, who is cleaning out their garage, even who wants to get some revenge on an ex.

Because the stock can vary so much and so quickly, it can be to your benefit to have a dedicated flea marketing plan when you go out looking for items with which to decorate your new home. Hitting the flea market for organic baby bedding may not work the first or second time, but it just might work the third. One good plan is to try the market on different days each week, or even on a rotating schedule. Sooner or later, you will find what you are looking for.

For the person without a specific idea about what they want to see, a flea market can yield even more amazing results. An eclectic mix of items from a London Ontario house for sale and stores going out of business might just grab your eye, perfectly suited for your garden or your sitting room. Make sure that when you are looking for inexpensive items of decor, you make your local flea market your first stop.
