Landscape and Garden Designs

For many people, the yard is where they store all the old junk, or send their kids to play when they're getting on mommy and daddy's nerves. Yet when they go to look at Bolton houses for sale, the condition of the yard can make or break a home sale. This is because everyone wants a nice yard, but most people don't know how to make one if the house didn't already come with it. If you're thinking about sprucing up the yard, this article should give you some ideas on what sort of styles you can achieve.

The American suburban backyard is the easiest type of yard to create and maintain. Most American suburban homes (including real estate in Vaughan and other places in Canada) simply have groomed lawns with plenty of space for the kids to roam and perhaps a few flower beds for mom or dad to putter around with on the weekends. Getting a nice, even green lawn might mean re-sodding your entire yard, but afterward you can maintain it with a lawn mower, a seasonal weed killing treatment, and judicious watering.

If you want something a little more complicated, just visit your local home store for ideas on how to create different spaces within your yard for different purposes. For instance, you might install a Mexican style outdoor stove as the centerpiece for a lounge area, lay a brick patio near the back door to your Leslieville real estate where you can park a barbecue, or create a wooded thicket to block off the view from your neighbor's windows. Most of this is very easy to maintain.

For those who are looking to create a backyard that is more of a work of art than a functional living space, why not draw inspiration from other countries instead of the real estate pictures in the window of Edmonton Realty? Zen style Japanese gardens complete with koi ponds are all the rage right now and in some North American locales the climate is favorable. However there are more places where a traditional English garden, with its roses and gravel walks, will take.

In most cases, a landscaped yard or garden will be a selling point for your home, especially if the buyers previously lived in The Penrose - 750 Bay Street and had to make do with a single window box. However a very elaborate garden with a welter of temperamental plants can act as a turnoff, as people will see it as either eating up their free time caring for it or eating up their budget hiring someone else to care for it. Therefore if you're sprucing up with the aim of selling, low maintenance is the way to go.
