Making your Deck the Place to Be

If you have a nice backyard, let's say attached to your Mississauga real estate, and most definitely one with a pool, it is likely that you will want to do a large amount of entertaining in the summertime. Today, outdoor entertaining is just like indoor entertaining, with the deck area taking the place of both the living and dining rooms more often than not. • Buy a sweet barbecue. There is just something about the appeal of a barbecue that seems to work for both men and women. Just take a walk through the barbecue section of your local Wal-Mart or Costco and think about how you feel when you see one of those deluxe style grills, stainless steel and complete with an icebox underneath. Odds are you can see yourself cooking away for all of your friends, and it makes a great centrepiece on your deck as well. Best of all, you don't have to run back and forth for suds or anything else! • Keep your deck in good shape. You will want to be sure that your deck is always in great shape so people will want to come over. Repair any chips, and keep that paint job smooth.
• Get a variety of deck furniture. If you want your deck to be the place to go, then you had better be prepared for a lot of company! Make sure there is a large variety of seating for everyone as well as different sized tables and enough covered spaces to keep people out of the sun. Just remember to pad the feet of all furniture so that it doesn't mark the decking!
• Hook up the stereo! Get some speakers to run from your living room audio system out to the deck so you can set any mood you want to.
• Landscape! Make your deck an oasis by planting a lot of greenery around it, and remember to include pots and hanging plants on the deck itself. Any growers supplies store can help you out with everything from flowers to tools.
